It’s 5:14AM and I cannot stop keep myself from itching at my face. I’ll resort to slapping the itch, but it makes my face red and puffy. It’s 36 degrees outside, why is my eczema acting up?
I’m gonna try to go back to bed. Grab something that’ll keep my face cool.
Thanks to all of you who answered my question about soap. Based on your answers I see a lot of:
- Unscented Dove
- Eucerin Calming Body Wash
- Aveeno Body Wash
- Johnson and Johnson Baby Products
- Products made by Simple.
I’ve used all but products made by Simple. I too, would recommend those products as well. BLAH, okay. The reason I asked was because I wondered if any of you used Sulfur Soap.
Long story short, I lived in the Philippines for a year when I was 15. My skin started to get smoother and healthier once I started to use this…

Dr. S. Wong’s Sulfur Soap. GERMICIDE . FUNGICIDE . PARASITICIDE
I can’t base the whole change due to the soap. I’m pretty sure the whole climate change was a big factor too.
I visited a dermatologist (which was pretty cheap) since she really didn’t ask any questions. She kinda just looked at my skin and gave me a prescription for this soap.
on the back;
INDICATIONS: For pimples and other skin infections. Helps prevent scabies, if used regularly; aids in the healing of cuts and sores, relieves itchiness of skin. Also treats dandruff caused by fungi.
The smell is pretty good. It’s not extravagantly good smelling, but who cares? If it works, it works.
I use this. Every time I shower, I use it. I’m not even sure where I can get this in America, which means having to call my Dad to call family to send some over seas.
Bottom line: Whether it’s unscented Dove or some kind of body wash that does it for you, or even a Sulfur soap, stick to it. I know the hassle of switching soaps to find the right one for you sucks, but trust me, when you do, it’ll be worth it.
Keep your head up. X out stress. X out irritating products. X out eczema.
Side note: If you guys have any questions about this soap, I’ll try my best to answer them. Based on my experience, that is.
Guys and Girls, the other day, I did something bad. I ate a bowl of cereal with milk because I thought for some reason, I could surpass my outbreaks since I haven’t had any in a while.
I WAS WRONG!!!!
And now I pay the price. I’m feeling itchy everywhere. I’m getting dry. It’s a pain to shower. FFFFF.
Bottom line: STICK TO YOUR DIET! If you know you can’t eat such things… dont!
I’ve been meaning to come back and update this blog more frequently but due to procrastination, I haven’t. BUT, thanks to Living In Eczema (livingineczema.tumblr.com) for asking how my skin has been, I’ve come back!
Okay, so I left off on the 18th of December and how I stopped using the Cetaphil lotion on my arms since it started to give me a “raw” feeling. Since then, I’ve completely stopped using it. (Even though it once made my skin feel really good.)
Like usual, some things get worse before it gets better. That’s fine. I’m used to it. We can’t all be lucky with good looks and flawless skin. (Curse those who are! *Shakes fists* Just kidding)
Let’s see… I got a dog as a Christmas gift. A little brown wiener dog from my sister. Which I learned that taking care of a puppy is some hard work! With watching him and keeping him from scratching the ba-jeebus outta my arm, it got pretty bad. Stress started to pile up and so did the scratching/slapping.
Since then, I’ve decided to have my other siblings “baby sit” while I work and other times when I simply cannot take care of him. Which was fine by them because we all wanted a dog growing up. Even though we are all grown up and some of us even have our own families, the feeling remains.
Okay, back to it. This passed week, Seattle was hit with snow. I know that going out and having my skin in cold weather made it feel really good and stopped me from scratching, but all it did was dry me out. I tired my best to use long sleeved shirts and sweats to keep warm and stop me from scratching.
The slapping unfortunately came back. Usually my forehead and cheeks. It makes my whole face pink and slightly puffy. Honestly, I’d rather be pink and puffy than red and bloody.
The eczema that used to be on my arms, patches on my back, even my legs, have completely stopped flaring. YES!
Along with my diet, I still don’t drink straight milk. It something I am eating has milk in it, like cooked in it, then that’s fine. But let’s say it was… a bowl of cereal, no. Same goes for eggs.
Aquaphor! If I knew anybody else who has eczema and asked me what they should use, I’d highly recommend Aquaphor. It keeps you moisturized, it heals cuts. It. Just. Works. :)
All in all, I guess my skin has finally passed that “ugly” phase that happens every year or so. Just simple moisturizing and less harsh scratching.
I cannot think of anything more to say since then. But not to worry, I’ll remain active on this blog. I hope this new year brings all us closer to X-ing Eczema in the butt! Haha. :)
Okay, so after I tried that experiment with only putting Cetaphil on my arms. It… I really don’t know how to explain it. It kinda gave my arms a sort of raw feeling. Kinda like that over moisturized, mucky, gunky, feeling.
So… I switched back to Aquaphor. Instead this time, using less and spreading it out more.
Damn skin, make up your mind!
Btw, my face is looking good! I’m “slapping” less. Which is AWESOME!
My mom used to tell me that too! Face, arms, and legs are where I flare up as well. Sweating also messes my skin up too. (It really sucks.)
A few questions:
What do you use to moisturize? Moving from a super polluted small city to a nice beach town, was there a change with your skin?
- Work and Christmas is starting so stress me out a little. >:[
- It’s getting really cold but I think my skin is getting more used to it. I’ve noticed that spending more time out in the cold stops me from itching. (But who really wants to be in the cold? Not me.)
- Yesterday, after my shower, instead of using Aquaphor on my arms, I used Cetaphil. ($14.99 at Rite Aid)

This particular Cetaphil lotion feels really good. It’s greasy, but once you get it on your skin, it really stays in. (Unlike other lotions)
- It doesn’t burn. Usually lotions with fragrances leaves burning.
- It doesn’t leave me feeling mucky. With other lotions, you would have to really work it into your skin. Not with this one.
- Although it’s not really cheap, I do recommend using this. It’s kinda one of those things that you have to use no matter how much it’ll cost you. If it works, it works.
I’m pretty sure Walmart has a generic version of Cetaphil, but at this point, I doubt that they would have THIS particular type of Cetaphil lotion. (Maybe brand names are better. *Shrugs*)
Hope this helps some of you. :)
iwasforcedtotumbl reblogged your post: iwasforcedtotumbl answered your question: Quick Q:…
it’ll get so bad that if i just move my skin will literally break and i dont know what is worse, it hurting to move…
Sorry to hear about the burning feeling. :( I remember how that used to be. I even contemplated whether it was worth taking a shower. Over time, it became something I had to get used to. The burning sensation is just… as;dfkadf!!!
I’ve tried the whole gloves thing. Yeah, it doesn’t work for me either. :/
If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of Lotion do you use?
